There are two modes in the game: “Action,” where the story’s interactive portions are taken out, and “Story,” where instead the combat is made far, far easier. In fact, BioWare has sort of allowed you to do that if you want. But in Mass Effect 3, the action sequences and arenas finally feel like something that would command a player’s attention, even if they were stripped from the story. In Mass Effect 2, the shooting sequences felt like they were crafted with care, but needed another few months of TLC to be something enjoyable outside of the context of the narrative. Mass Effect 1 felt like an RPG pretending to be a shooter. ![]() And finally, in this third installment, the game’s shooting finally feels like it totally fits.
